Nancy Moran NSAI Workshop
Monday, May 14th from 5-10 pm in San Diego, CA
Both times I'll be discussing "The Secrets of Being a Professional Songwriter: What Every Aspiring Songwriter Needs To Know To Be Successful." These are the things that the industry doesn't talk about much, but they'll still expect you to know it! If you've been wondering how to get through the gates of "we don't accept unsolicited packages" and actually get someone to LISTEN to your material, then you need to come to one of these workshops!

Songdoor 2007 International Songwriting Competition Open for Submissions
NASHVILLE, TENN., USA - April 19, 2007 -- The SongDoor 2007 International Songwriting Competition, in association with SongU.com, Jay’s Place, Masterwriter and Delgado Guitars, is now open for submissions. Complete entry information is available at www.songdoor.com.
Last year's Grand Award winner Sean Clive, whose Christian entry "Amazed" is currently under consideration for a publishing and recording deal, has been more than a little surprised by the publicity he's received as a result of beating out thousands of entries to win the big prize. "I've gotten calls from all over and a lot of attention I never expected," he says. Clive's new CD, aptly titled "Amazed," is available on cdbaby.com.
Five other 2006 entries are also being represented to publishers and artists, and two entrants (who are also artists) are in talks with record labels. "SongDoor really does help you get a foot in the door, which is the whole reason we started this," says SongDoor president Tony Zotta. "We've been fortunate to gain a loyal following in the songwriting community for three reasons: 1) Songwriters who enter SongDoor don't just pay an entry fee and ride off into the sunset. We evaluate every song on 12 points and provide detailed personal commentary on what works and how to improve what doesn't; 2) We also provide a totally strings-free online songwriting course through SongU.com to help them improve their craft; and 3) The entry fee is very low - $10. Entering this competition gives songwriters tangible assistance with their career, even if they don't win the major awards."
Entrants are eligible to win the Grand Award, valued at approximately USD $5,100 in music merchandise and services, including a fully-produced professional demo at Jay’s Place, a Music Row institution that has recorded the likes of Garth Brooks, Gretchen Wilson, Lonestar, Chet Atkins and many, many more. Seven Category Winners each receive a valuable package of awards worth more than $2,300.
Judges include seasoned music industry producers, artists and engineers who have worked with/for such artists as Britney Spears, Neil Young, *NSYNC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, Jimmy Buffett, Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire, Tony Bennett, Kenny Rogers, The Charlie Daniels Band and many others.
Entries are accepted online or by mail through November 15, 2007.
