The 7th Annual Art Of Music Writing Contest
Since 2001, The Art of Music Annual Writing Contest has encouraged poets, authors, and songwriters to write on music-related topics as well as come forward with music-related poems, short stories, essays, and song lyrics they have written which might have otherwise gone unnoticed. The winning entries, along with the top 75 entries, are published in our anthology, "The Art of Music - A Collection of Writings." The anthology gives writers a chance to share their music-related pieces and experience those written by others. "The Art of Music - A Collection of Writings" has been used in university-level poetry courses and can be found in libraries and bookstores as well as museum and performing art center gift shops. Portions of the proceeds from the anthology are donated to Breast Cancer Research. The editor, Elizabeth C. Axford, is a breast cancer survivor.

Call for Entries for Filmmakers & Bands 13th Annual Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival

13th Annual Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival (TVIFF) Unspools September 12-16, 2007; Announces Call for Entries for Filmmakers & Bands
Temecula, CA (March 21, 2007) -- For over a decade, filmmakers and musicians from across America and around the globe come to Temecula every September to enjoy and participate in the celebration of the two most influential, most enduring, and most entertaining art forms: film and music. Now in its thirteenth year, TVIFF is preparing to roll again this September 12-16, 2007 at The Movie Experience 10 at Tower Plaza Theatres, located at 25735 Ynez Road in Temecula. TVIFF's tradition of presenting excellence in film and music has featured emerging styles from North America and more than twenty countries around the world—and this year will build on that eclectic, selective legacy. Today, the festival is officially announcing its call for film and music submissions.
The festival is open to domestic and international films in five categories: Features; Shorts; Documentaries; Animation; and Student Films. To be eligible, a film entry must have been completed in 2005, 2006 or 2007. All film entries must be submitted on DVD to be considered for selection. All genres and film lengths are welcome. Films compete for juried and audience awards.
The music competition component of TVIFF showcases the musical vision and artistic wizardry of talented individuals and groups from across America and the world. Emerging, up-and-coming unsigned performing artists and bands of all genres of music from rock, jazz, pop, hip-hop, r&b to latin, country, folk, and world are welcome.
Filmmakers and musical artists can submit entries online by logging on to www.withoutabox.com for film and www.sonicbids.com for music. The entry fee, modest at $25 per film ($10 for students), has not increased since 1995. The deadline for both film and music entries is June 30th 2007. Entrants can also download applications at www.tviff.com.
The Festival's social calendar starts with Opening Night Festivities September 12, followed by daily and nightly filmmaker/musician receptions; industry workshops; a Lifetime and Career Achievement Awards Black Tie Gala; wine tasting tours, "Best of Fest" presentations and much more. And all the excitement happens against the colorful backdrop of the exquisite Temecula Valley, a year-round destination where genteel horse farms and world-class wineries share the picturesque landscape alongside Wild West theme towns and Southern California's most expansive gaming destination, Pechanga Resort and Casino.
